Safespring

We run cloud services from data centers in Sweden and Norway, with open source technology and European jurisdiction.

We provide cloud infrastructure from Sweden and Norway for organisations that need control over where data is stored and processed

Our platform uses OpenStack for compute services and S3-compatible object storage. Our services are based on open source software, open standards and local production in the Nordics.

We work with research and education, public-sector organisations, regulated industries and companies that need cloud services under Swedish and European law.

The service history and the company record start at different points

Our roots go back to 2014, when the work started within IPnett after a procurement for infrastructure as a service to the academic sector in Scandinavia.

Safespring AB was registered in Sweden on 5 September 2016. In 2017, customers, contracts, staff and sites were transferred from IPnett to Safespring. On this page, 2014 refers to the start of the work inside IPnett, 2016 refers to the registered Swedish company and 2017 refers to the operating transfer.

Our cloud sites are in Sweden and Norway

Our services are produced in Nordic data centers powered by renewable energy. In Stockholm, excess heat is recovered into district heating, and Stockholm South is designed for PUE below 1.2. In Oslo, hydropower is part of the energy profile and the site is stated at PUE 1.1.

We use selected co-location partners for high availability, performance and data residency. These facilities provide physical security controls, redundant power and cooling, and robust connectivity. Each partner is reviewed through our vendor risk management process.
